The Government of Zimbabwe is intent on improving the lives of women. To this end they have a whole ministry, The Ministry of Women’s Affairs that deals with issues affecting women. In Marondera we have a provincial office and Mrs Sangare happened to visit us on behalf of the Provincial Director of Women’s Affairs. The visit was an opportunity for gender-based violence victims to meet with the officials from the Government and discuss issues concerning them. Nine women were in attendance.
The official was impressed by the projects that women were involved in. She also has pointers on institutions of Government that were designed to help women when they want to become independent can go to. She even promised a meeting with the Resident Minister and other high-placed officials where women could find ways to interact with the Government.
